HHS' National Diabetes Education
Program (NDEP) launched the first national multicultural diabetes prevention
campaign, Small
Steps. Big Rewards. Prevent type 2 Diabetes. Information about
the campaign, tip sheets and tools to help people lose weight.

Small
Step program. For professionals and consumers, this DHHS website provides
information on ways to integrate better eating and activity habits into
one's life one by one.

HHS: "Prevention:
A Blueprint for Action" outlines steps that individuals, groups, communities
and other organizations can take to help improve the overall health of
Americans.

GAO: "Nutrition
Education: USDA Provides Services through Multiple Programs, but Stronger
Linkages among Efforts Are Needed." Information on how to overcome
challenges associated with USDA's nutrition education efforts and to help
programs incorporate key actions for success.

US Census Bureau: "Older
Americans Month Multimedia Web Page" provides an updated look at the
Older American population. Reformatted with new data tables, links and
a one-minute radio feature.

National Council of La Raza:
"State
of Hispanic America 2004. A Latino perspective on the American Agenda"
outlines specific priorities that help to inform policy-makers, public
officials, candidates, and the public about what matters to the Latino
community and why.

Reuters
Health (May 4, 2004): "U.S. governors see health reform push in 2005"
says governors will push for the federal government to assume the
full cost of providing health care for low-income elderly people.

"Older
Americans and the Internet," new report from the Pew Internet &
American Life Project, finds the percentage of seniors who go online has
jumped by 47% between 2000 and 2004.
